The collection must be for a 'good cause'. This does not mean that the organisation has to be a registered charity. Individuals and local organisations may make applications and these are considered in the same way as applications from registered charities.
Collections must not be conducted for personal gain.
Applications from university/college committees from other areas are not permitted due to the sheer numbers which could prevent local organisations from being able to collect in their own city. Students may, however, collect on behalf of a charity if the charity has made an application.
There should be one or more of the following links with Coventry:
Organisations should have their headquarters or a branch in Coventry;
The funds raised will assist people in Coventry;
The collectors live in Coventry.
Organisations who have previously held a collection should have submitted their returns within a month of the collection.
