If you are a serving member of the Armed Forces due to be discharged (for any reason), are a family member of serving personnel or a veteran and need help to source accommodation or have other issues, such as health, debt or unemployment, please complete and submit a DTRP Form.
Defence Transition Services provide holistic support to service leavers who will face challenges before, through and beyond transition. They provide a safety net of support, smoothing and facilitating access to the most appropriate help and advice available in the wider sectors. They will support individuals and/or their families from 2 years before, through to two years after transition as necessary.
Specialist help and support
- Veterans' Housing Advice provides clear pathways for ex-service personnel in housing need to move into permanent accommodation. This service is provided in partnership with The Royal British Legion, Shelter and Connect Assist and can be contacted on 0808 801 0880.
- Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) provides housing advice to people currently serving in the forces and ex-services personnel and their families. Call 0800 731 4880.
- The Single Persons Accommodation Centre for the Ex-Services (SPACES) can provide advice and support for single people leaving the Armed Forces. They can help ex-services personnel find housing throughout the UK, both temporary and permanent. Call 01748 833797, 01748 872940 and 01748 830191. You can also self-refer through the Riverside website.
How do I get more help from the Council?
If you think you will be homeless on leaving the Armed Forces, or are a homeless veteran, tell us as soon as you can by registering with us.
Homelessness Advice Service
If you are homeless and have nowhere safe to stay tonight, please call 024 7683 4025. Our phone lines are open 9am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday. For out of hours emergencies please call 024 7683 2222. If you are worried you may be at risk of losing your home, you can access help by completing an online referral.
Young people experiencing homelessness
If you are aged 16-24, are a single or a couple, and do not have children, you can access the Housing & Homelessness service by contacting the Coventry Youth Hub.
