Reasons to bring an empty property back into use
While the property remains empty, you are paying bills and are responsible for keeping it in good condition. It is likely it will be costing you in excess of £10,000 a year in bills and lost income.
If you do not keep the property in good condition, we can make you do so and may even prosecute you for not complying with any legal notices, in extreme cases we can force you to sell the property by taking you to court.
You could have peace of mind by selling it or letting it make money for you by renting it out. Remember that just because it is empty, does not mean that you do not have to pay Council Tax.
If your property has been vacant for more than two years you may be able to get a VAT reduction on any services needed to bring it back into use. For more information visit the HMRC website.
